Victoria Gold is looking to hire the position outlined below for our Eagle Gold Mine located in Yukon:
Environmental Technician
(6 month Term)

Under the direction of the Environmental Superintendent, the Environmental Technician will be responsible for primary environmental monitoring and sampling, record keeping for environmental issues, and perform inspections of sensitive environmental areas. The ideal candidate will possess a great work ethic with a drive for improvement. The position is site-based working a 3-week rotational schedule of 12-hour days. Responsibilities are noted below which will include but are not limited to:
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Conduct a variety of environmental sampling, documenting and reporting to fulfill regularly and management plan requirements
• Liaise with the multiple stakeholders to implement best management practices to prevent discharge of wastes to the receiving environment
• Oversee and carry out maintenance of environmental monitoring equipment
• Assist with record keeping, data compilation, data processing and analysis as needed
• Participation in site-specific training and adherence to company health and safety and environmental policies
Qualifications and Experience:
• One to three years of experience with environmental monitoring, preferably in a northern location
• Technical Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, environmental engineering or related field
• Strong computer skills; knowledge of ArcGIS and database management is considered an asset
• Introductory knowledge of Yukon and Federal environmental regulatory framework and mining related legislation
• Experience with the implementation of erosion and sediment control best practices, surface water and groundwater quality sampling procedures, groundwater level measurement methods streamflow gauging techniques; experience conducting snow surveys soil/vegetation, sediment/benthic sampling and fish monitoring is a plus
• Class 5 driver’s license; experience driving in difficult terrain with 4WD and as a snowmobile operator is a plus
• Must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions
