Remembering & Reclaiming Yukon First Nations Birthing Practices

CYFN Family Preservation Services will be hosting a community engagement event “Birth is Ceremony: Remembering and Reclaiming Yukon First Nations Birthing Practices”. It will be held on March 6-7 at the Nàkwät’à Kų̀ Potlatch House in Kwanlin Dun.

This event will include presentations, sharing circles, and ceremony. We look forward to ongoing learning and knowledge sharing among speakers and participants. Further details, including agenda, will soon be shared soon.

CYFN will cover travel and accommodations of 3 people from each Yukon First Nations and suggest the following participants be considered:  

  1. One participant currently working in providing prenatal and/or supports to families
  2. One participant who is a knowledge holder or Elder of traditional birthing/parenting practices
  3. One person who is pregnant or new mother/father
