The First Nation of Na Cho Nyak Dun was very saddened yesterday to hear of the passing of Richard Salter, known affectionately among us as “Rick.” Rick played a hugely important role in the Na Cho Nyak Dun Treaty negotiations, working closely with our community and elders to ensure their vision for the settlement was reflected in the Agreements. As one of the pioneers of the Umbrella Final Agreement, Rick made major contributions to the broader Canadian society. None are more deeply entrenched and more alive today than his legacy within the
Na Cho Nyak Dun First Nation community. He will be sorely missed.
Our Nation shares the loss, and our condolence and prayers go out to the family.
