Employment Opportunity: Medical Navigator

Position Title:                    Medical Navigator
Salary Range:                  Level 6 – $29.60 to $35.27
Status:Permanent – Full Time (75 hours bi-weekly)
Closing Date:                    June 8, 2021


Reporting to the Manager, Social Programs the incumbent Assists clients with health care and emergency medical needs per the Medical Policy, maintains complete and accurate case files, administers the Funeral Planning Assistance Program, and performs other related duties. Programs are delivered with a case management, networking with NIHB, the Mayo Nursing Station and Medical Clinic where client has their appointments to ensure all Status First Nation are covered for their medical travels outside of Mayo


Education & Experience:

  • Diploma and/or Certificate in social services or business administration fields, along with experience working in the health or social assistance area an asset
  • An equivalent combination of education and training and work experience preferably in a First Nations work environment.

Specific Skills:

  • Knowledge of FNNND, Federal and Territorial resources and policies (i.e. Adult Protection Act, Privacy Act, Human Rights, NIHB policies
  • Good computer skills (MS Office, AIS)
  • Case Management skills
  • Good written and oral communications skill, including record keeping and report writing
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Tact and diplomacy

  • Willing to work on-call on a rotational basis outside of regular working hours
  • Valid Class 5 Yukon Driver’s Licence with clear abstract preferred
